1. STRAIGHT COPYEDITING/PROOFREADING

You have completed a draft and need a stellar, impartial second set of eyes to catch errors or inconsistencies and to cut or expand copy for a stronger impact. LES lends a fresh eye, essential for creating a bold manuscript. Even the strongest writers benefit from thoughtful critique.
• We edit your copy to specified style guidelines (APA, AP, or other client-specified style programs).
• We incorporate input from you and other consultants/reviewers, as needed.
• We edit for grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, and other mechanics of style.
• We polish content and reorganize structure to clarify meaning.
• We check formatted, edited proofs for adherence to design and for minor mechanical errors in copy (spelling mistakes or inconsistent adherence to style guidelines).
• We mentor less seasoned writers, providing critique, constructive criticism, and encouragement as you work to craft a publishable piece.

2. DRAFTING COPY FROM MATERIALS PROVIDED

You have completed your research and need someone to turn the raw facts into a journalistic masterpiece. You have great ideas but can’t get the words to flow. Admit it: you’re not a writer. Don’t let this stand in your way – LES will help you jump the literary hurdles that have been blocking your path so you can share your vision with deep impact. We can help you bring on your genius!
• We generate crisp copy from materials you provide.
• We offer major re-writing, as necessary, to create a new manuscript or new sections of a manuscript based on your content and research.
• We prepare press releases in pdf format.
• We can work as ghost-writers to help you bring memoirs or other autobiographical recounts to print.

3. WRITING ORIGINAL ARTICLES

You need an excellent article but don’t have the time or people power to write it on deadline. If your organization lacks strong writers, the backbone of any organization, the LES experts can offer immediate literary therapy!
• We research your specified topic(s) and create original copy solely for your use.
• We work up-front with you on all expectations: word count, rough draft and final deadlines, desired “tone” (scholarly or conversational), ultimate use (print, online, or other medium), etc. We follow client-specified style guidelines; if no preference is specified, we default to APA style.
• We perform all necessary research.
• We offer Desktop Publishing services for original copy that we generate. Desktop Publishing needs must be disclosed at the start of the project.

WHAT WE DON’T DO (AKA “DISCLAIMERS”)
We are NOT a “term paper mill” and don’t write collegiate term papers or theses/dissertations. Writing Original Articles (Level 3) is intended for companies or individual clients in need of articles. Students are encouraged to consider the Straight Copyediting/Proofreading (Level 1) services.

We do NOT perform Fact Checking/Citation Checking/Reference Checking for any client-provided copy. Unless we generate original copy (Level 3), checking the accuracy of all facts, quotes, graphics, and other reference sources is outside the scope of service and remains solely the responsibility of the client.

We do NOT obtain permission releases or locate source information for copyrighted material. Obtaining permissions and negotiating any usage fees remain solely the responsibility of the client. If the client submits copy that was written by another party or graphics that were created/obtained by another source, the client must supply written reprint permission. Landmark Editorial Services will not be held responsible for plagiarized content. The content, verification of originality, and/or respect for copyright remains solely the responsibility of the client.
